Jurickson Profar is a name that resonates with baseball fans around the world. Born on February 20, 1993, in Willemstad, Curaçao, Profar has carved out an impressive career as a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). Known for his versatility, determination, and infectious energy, he has become a standout figure in the sport.

Profar’s journey in baseball began at a young age when he represented Curaçao in the Little League World Series in 2004 and 2005. His talent was evident early on, and at just 16 years old, he signed with the Texas Rangers as an international free agent in 2009. Initially pegged as a shortstop, Profar quickly rose through the ranks as one of baseball’s top prospects. His MLB debut came in 2012, when he made history by hitting a home run in his first at-bat, becoming one of the youngest players to achieve this feat.

Despite his early promise, Profar’s career faced setbacks. A shoulder injury sidelined him for two full seasons (2014 and 2015), testing his resilience. However, he returned to the Rangers in 2016 and began to showcase his versatility, playing multiple positions including second base, shortstop, and eventually transitioning to the outfield. Over the years, he has played for several MLB teams, including the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, and, as of 2025, the Atlanta Braves.

The 2024 season with the San Diego Padres marked a turning point for Profar. Playing primarily as a left fielder, he had a breakout year, earning his first All-Star selection. He posted career-high numbers, including a .280 batting average, 24 home runs, and 85 RBIs, while displaying exceptional plate discipline and clutch hitting. His performance not only solidified his value as a player but also won him the hearts of Padres fans, who admired his passion and competitive spirit.

In January 2025, Profar signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Atlanta Braves, marking a new chapter in his career. His return to Petco Park on Opening Day 2025, this time in a Braves uniform, was an emotional moment. Padres fans gave him a warm ovation, a testament to the impact he left during his tenure with the team.

Off the field, Profar is known for his vibrant personality and ability to connect with teammates and fans alike. Fluent in four languages—Dutch, English, Spanish, and Papiamento—he has been described as a “glue guy” who brings people together.
